What do people do during Lent?
- The choice to observe Lent is a personal one – it is between you and God, no-one else. It provides an opportunity to focus your heart and mind on Jesus during the journey towards Easter.
- There’s no requirement to observe it, and it isn’t something you should enter into through guilt, or because you feel that those around you think you should. However, observing Lent can be an incredibly powerful and moving experience through which you can grow in faith and learn much about those things that are of true importance to you.
- Whether you decide to take small or big steps towards observing Lent you’ll be surprised at what happens when you give part of your day to reflecting on Jesus Christ and reading God’s Word.
What can I do?
You know what is on your heart and the things you have done that you probably shouldn’t have. Perhaps for you… lent might be about looking at ways in which you can put strategies in place to avoid falling again.
If you struggle with something, (perhaps... gambling, addiction(drugs, alcohol, social media use), anger or something else) – be real with yourself and spend time looking at how you move forward from where you are now.
Christ wants us all to be set free from those things that bind and control us. Take the opportunity during Lent to remove those shackles that hurt and harm.
