The Gift of Hope

Dear Lord – As we commence our journey through Advent we ask that you keep our hearts and minds focussed upon the true gift of this and every Christmas…

The precious gift of hope that your son Jesus Christ brought to this world. A gift that is as alive today as it was 2000 years ago. A gift that has the power to love, to heal, to transform, protect and to save.

We pray that it is this gift that we will share with those we encounter this festive season. In amongst the tree’s and the tinsel – let it be your gift of light and love that melts the hearts of all who hear your word this Christmas.

In your son’s precious name we pray

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him - John 3:17

Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart - Jeremiah 29:12-13

Activity – Prayers of Hope

Cut out a small piece of coloured paper about 6cm square, or use our template (Click here).

Each square represents a gift of hope.   Use it to focus your prayer time on specific individuals or issues as you bring them to prayer. What or who will be the focus of these gifts today?

Write your prayer on the inside of the gift and fold the corners of the paper into the middle of the square to form a smaller square.

Place each gift face down in a bowl of water to see it slowly unfold, providing a gentle reminder that when we bring our thoughts before God with sincere and open hearts – they are heard by our Father in Heaven who loves us and cares for us.

God Bless
