Cairns are small piles of stone made on mountains, to mark a place or to act as a memorial, but they can also provide a powerful visual cue for group prayer.

The aim of a prayer cairn is to help you reflect upon situations, people and your responses to them as we draw close to God in prayer. Where possible build the cairn in sight of a cross and reflect upon the space between these two points. How will you align your actions and decisions with Christ’s call for your life - Use time building the cairn as an opportunity to listen.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Write a word or draw an image on each pebble to represent an issue theme or topic using a felt tip pen. Add your stone to the cairn and leave it in place for a number of weeks, encouraging others to add their own prayer pebbles.

Remember – God sometimes moves mountains, one pebble at a time.
